A bold website that’s not afraid to be different for this London-based development team
Building upon the excellent work done by my good friend Tim Van Damme on their original one-page site, I designed and built a new site for Neutron Creations that would allow them to go into detail about the excellent work that they do.
Ben and Marc had a unique problem: although their original site was bringing in lots of work, it was the wrong kind: they needed to express themselves as developers and explain the services they offered. They wanted something that would stand out from the crowd and avoid current web design clichés but also wanted to retain some of the feel of the original version. So, using a handful of Tim’s typographic treatments, elements from the old background image, and a desire to give every page its own identity, I created a friendly, dynamic, loud-and-proud, WordPress-powered site to let Neutron’s work shine.
In addition to the ‘main’ site, the blog section has a feel all of its own, taking cues from the overall design but injecting it with a little humour and visual references to old high school science textbooks, all controlled from one WordPress installation.
The Neutron team added some sprinkling of jQuery magic to the whole thing — as well as some additional CSS — and you can read all about the new site on Ben’s opening blog post.
We approached Elliot for our site redesign because we wanted an aesthetic that stood out from the pack, and wasn't derivative of the websites of our fellow web agencies. He delivered in style, working closely with us to make sure the design was driven by our content and functionality rather than pure looks, and he was always ready with explanations of the reasoning behind his design decisions.
