Speaking and teaching at FOWD
Posted on 12 March 2008 • 18 comments

I realised today that I’ve yet to publicly mention the fact that I’m speaking – and teaching – at FOWD London in April. So here I am, putting that right.
This event is special for a number of reasons. Firstly, instead of just speaking, I’ll be teaching a half-day workshop entitled ‘Professional Photoshop Effects’ (details here). Secondly, if that wasn’t enough, I’ll also be partaking in a Layer Tennis-esque match live on stage with Jon Hicks, Jina Bolton, and Hannah Donovan. Thirdly – phew – the last day of FOWD also happens to be my last day at Carsonified, so I think there’ll be a fair amount of partying to be done.
Besides all that, I’m just generally excited about seeing some good friends again (the speaker line-up is amazing) and putting faces to a lot of names: there are quite a few chaps and chapettes who I’ve been wanting to meet for some time. So if you’re up for some fun in London and want to attend one of the best events in the industry, come and say hello! There are still plenty of places left on my workshop, by the way, and I think it’ll be good fun. Who knows? I might already by drunk by that stage.

Looking forward to the conference and meeting you E, can’t make the workshop but it sounds like a good one. No Web 2.0 Look effects though please! ;)

I’d agree, the line-up for this year’s FOWD in London does look pretty awesome. I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully I’ll get to meet up with you at some stage before you head off for pastures new in Norway.
Good luck with the Layer Tennis. Now that sounds like a pretty good match-up ;)

And don’t forget I’ll be commentating on layer tennis, so you better behave! :)

I’ve been considering going to the conference, and things like “build beautiful background textures with minimal fuss” make me really want to go! Especially if we learn how to make backgrounds like the one on this site.
Maybe see you there!

Money, money, money, kind of funny, it’s a rich man’s world!
Well, not that rich, but I can’t quite put it under ‘company expenses’ at that price :(
Good luck anyway mate!

Really want to go. Lot of money for me though, I’ll have to see if the company would like me to brush up on the latest developments in web design and get them to pay.

Thanks for the heads up Elliot.
I attended last year’s “Future of Web Apps” and thought it was excellent.
I’m off to see if I can get this trip approved… : )

What an honor, sounds like a lot of fun. I’d love to go, but London’s a bit far from Florida. ;)
Hope it goes well,

Unfortunately I cannot make FOWD this year round (the ocean in between is holding me back), but I am definitely planning on attending next year.
Good luck and again all the best for the future…
Looking forward to the new design!

Shouldn’t Hannah Donovan’s link go to http://www.last.fm/user/hannahdonovan instead of http://last.fm/
