Coming soon: Countdone for iOS
Posted on 21 February 2013 • 9 comments
Just before Christmas I had one of those moments where you wake up in the middle of the night and you have an idea for an app. I’d always assumed that these moments were mere myths, but there I was, experiencing one for myself. I went back to sleep and when I got up in the morning, I fired up Photoshop and started mocking up what I’d seen in my head. Later that day I asked Sarah for an iOS developer recommendation and just a few days later the app build was underway.
Fast-forward to now and my very first iPhone / iPod Touch app is almost complete. The last few bugs are being ironed out. I’m putting together the last few assets. Soon — very soon — we (Viewport Industries) will be submitting it to the App Store.
So I thought it was time for a sneak peek: a genuine photo of the app running on my iPod Touch. Say hello to Countdone for iOS!

And that’s all I’m going to give away for now. If you’d like to be the first to hear about the app’s release, simply sign up to the Viewport Industries newsletter!

“I went back to sleep, and when I got up in the morning, I fired up Photoshop…”
I’ve had similar experiences, but they usually go something like this:
“I went back to sleep, and when I got up in the morning, I had forgotten what it was.”

Ditto what Chris said. Had one of those moments a few weeks ago. Really should keep a notepad by the bed.
The name says to me a time management app, something like the pomodoro technique.

Curiouser and curiouser.
On the point of remembering midnight brainwaves, I tend to just grab my alarm clock- ahem, iPhone – and make a few notes that I email myself. Best way to preserve those moments of inspiration for when you’re less hazy.

Makes mental note to ask Keir or Sarah for the iOS dev contact to bring my own iOS app ideas to life rather than send them back to sleep AGAIN…

Hi Elliot, I came across your page in Issue 239 of .net magazine. I’m a freelancer and thought it would be an awesome tool to have! Are there any plans for an Android version?
